Teaching

I graduated with a degree in Art education in 1979. When I moved to Boston and started jobs in illustration and carpentry, I never thought I would teach again.  Teaching Woodworking classes in the 1980s was a way to train students and hand pick employees for my shop.  Shop work is very solitary and focused. Teaching also allowed me to get away from my shop for short spurts and see woodworking from a different angle. I enjoy collaboration and social interaction. The act of teaching is like the act of making. You identify the raw material and problem solve how to get it to your end goal.
